Let’s look at this concept of confidence.

Have you ever said to yourself...

“I wish I had more confidence. It's then that I will be able to start/progress in my personal chef business.”

Confidence is not something you can buy.

It’s not something you can get at the store. It’s something from within. Confidence is the internal state that you can feel in the present moment based on your relationship with the future.

Think about a time when didn’t have confidence. You were probably telling yourself inside how much you were freaking out and felt like you didn't know what you were doing (even though you probably did know what you were doing).

It’s because your attention was on the fear of an uncertain future. This caused a lack of confidence in the present moment. Your thoughts about the future created present emotions.

“I’m going to go on my first dinner party event. I’m freaking out.

  • What if I mess it up?
  • What if I burn dinner?
  • What if I look dumb?
  • What if I don’t have the food ready on time?”

When your attention in the present is on an unwanted, undesired future, you probably won’t feel very much confidence.

The truth is that when you work enough dinner parties, you gain the confidence.

Think about something in your life that you didn’t know how to do, but once you practiced enough, you had confidence in it and could do it without thinking or fearing.

Think about learning to drive. It was scary at first. You weren’t confident, but now that you’ve been doing it for so many years, you don’t even think about it. You drive on auto-pilot. You are confidence in your driving skills. You have more experience driving now than when you were a teenager.

When you step outside your comfort zone and start doing something that your mind isn’t familiar with, your mind starts freaking out. It’s unfamiliar. It’s uncertain. It’s unlike anything you’d done. You then bring all this lack of confidence into the present. That can affect your performance.

Here’s the fix for confidence. First, you have to understand that lack of confidence is an internal state that you can access at any moment. It’s a choice.

Confidence is a by-product of where your attention goes because you are where your attention is. So where is your attention when you feel a lack of confidence? Your mind is at an unwanted, undesired future.

When you move your attention to the focus of others, you start to feel the confidence.

Move your attention away from “What will they say? What will they think?” Me me me. My ego. My reputation. Instead, stop yourself and think about your clients.

They’re going to benefit from the service you give them. That’s all that matters.

There’s someone out there that needs the help of your services. You’re there to serve them.

It’s not about you. You do this because you have a passion for cooking that you want to share with others. It’s about others.

Now, your attention is on your intent and it’s your intent that you have control over but the things we worry about are the things we don’t have any control over and those are the things that don’t matter anyways. When you find that point, you’ll find confidence.

If I asked you to go about your day with the intent to help others. I think you would feel that you could do it. Even just sharing a compliment or inspirational quote.

I think you would feel confident about your intent to help someone else. Your attention is on your intent and the confidence follows because that’s what you’ve done before. You’ve helped someone in the past. You’ve made a difference in someone’s life.

Now, how many more people’s lives can you impact? And how long are you going to put off helping people and denying them of the impact you can make on their lives? Put your attention there and watch your power come back.

Watch your confidence arrive. It’s there. It will follow your intention. How can you help today? How can you serve someone today?

Everybody started at zero. The only difference is that some people choose to stay there. They choose to let that be the reason why they don’t get started.

And others choose to turn that zero into one client, then one into two, then two into three, and so on. It’s all a choice.

Choose what you want, but those are your choices. "I don’t have any clients." So what! Get started. Start today. Put that energy out there. Help someone and they’ll want to come back. Learn more about the personal chef business program here >>
